Upcoming Classes

We schedule classes as there is demand, generally once per year. If you do not see a future class you can make, or there are no future classes, please sign-up as interested here.

Technician Classes are the entry level class for unlicensed persons with no prior radio experience. General is the second level, and class participants are expected to be familiar with the material from the Technician Class.

You do not need to attend the class to take the exam. This class will be free and open to the public. The exam costs $15, the standard ARRL Test Fee.

General Class

We are planning a General Licensing Class for the weekend of April 17 and 18. This is not a entry level class, you will be expected to have knowledge of the material for the Technician License. (Any upper level EE student will have picked up most of this material in class, so don't let the lack of a Technician License stop you from coming!)

Technician Class (Update)

After the School Club Roundup Contest in late October, we will be offering a two day crash course covering what you will need to know to get your first ham Radio license. This will be a two day class the weekend of October 22nd and 23rd. The class will be free, but there will be a $15 licensing fee that you will need to pay when you take the exam and the end of the class.

You will need an FCC Registranion Number when you go to take the Exam. If you do not have one, you can register for one from the FCC web site.

October Licensing Class! (Updated)

Starting at 10AM Saturday and Sunday (October 27th and 28th) I will be running a class on the WSU campus Sloan 150. The class is FREE but at the end of the class there will be a $15 fee to take your exam. The class is optional, if you just want to take the exam, you are more than welcome to skip the class and show up at 4pm on Sunday for the exam. If you are planning on doing this please let me know in advance!

This is being held at WSU, but the exam and class are open to the public.

Spring Licensing Class and Exam

The club will be running a licensing class on February 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM in ETRL 101, and a review session and exam on February 24 at 10:00 AM.

We are planning to finish up the class at 4PM at the latest on Saturday. The test will likely be administered around 4PM, and will likely be done around 5PM.

The class will cover all the topics that are on the Technician exam. That includes basic electronics, operating procedures, RF safety, etc. Lunch will be provided courtesy of the club on both days. There is a $15 fee for taking the test and getting your license.

Fall 2013 Licensing Class and Exam

The WSU Amateur Radio Club will be holding a licensing class on November 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM in ETRL 101, and a review session and exam on November 17 at 10:00 AM.
