Working the Station View 2 Day 2

Erik KF7SIU working the radio in the last couple of hours in the contest.  I'm seen in the background here talking with Jillie, a visitor we had on Friday.  We got her on the air at the end of the contest; she had a nice chat with a gentleman in California on 20 meters.

A fuller shot of the antenna here, you can see the feed line; its the lower wire running to the left.

Antenna in relation to our operating area. It's hard to tell in this shot but we were far enough away for safe operation.

The antenna was hung very resourcefully; a rock was found at the site, tired to some nylon rope and thrown over the tree.  The feed line was attached to the balun and then the whole antenna was pulled into the tree.  The ends were stretched out, tired to some more rope and then staked into the ground.  This achieved an almost perfect setup for the antenna to its recommended angle and ground clearance.

Another close up of the table here, we had just the bare minimums we needed to operate.

You might be able to tell it was very cold. Radio here is a Kenwood TS-480SAT; all run off of the deep cycle seen on the ground.

Not pictured unfortunately at all was the NanoStation 2 from Ubiquiti that got us on the internet and into WSU's network.

This gives an idea of how much of a hill we were up on. The cement pad we were on was useful for a nice level spot.
